Miss Grand International announces crowning ceremony for CJ Opiaza

After some speculation, the Miss Grand International (MGI) organization has now made everything clear with the announcement of a crowning ceremony - CJ Opiaza is the 2024 Miss Grand International.
In a pinned post on its official Instagram account, the Miss Grand International organization announced that a crowning ceremony will be held at the MGI Hall in Bangkok on June 3, 2025. The crowning will be held at 2 p.m. (Bangkok Time) and will be broadcast on the GrandTV YouTube channel.
In the caption to the post, the organization wrote: “Time tells all. The CROWN has found its QUEEN.”
The MGI organization had earlier teased CJ Opiaza taking the crown by posting an Instagram Reel featuring her along with the caption “Being a queen isn't just about outer beauty -- it begins within. Stay tuned!”
CJ takes the crown after the previous titleholder, Rachel Gupta of India, was stripped of her Miss Grand International 2024 title. In a Facebook post, the organization cited Rachel's “failure to fulfill her assigned duties, engagement in external projects without prior approval from the organization, and her refusal to participate in the scheduled trip to Guatemala.”
The organization also wrote that Rachel has 30 days to return her crown to the MGI Head Office.

Other than Rachel, 2024 Miss Grand International second runner-up Miss Grand Myanmar Thae Su Nyein was also removed from her position due to alleged “inappropriate behavior and actions that violated several regulations.”
There was also controversy even before Thae Sy Nyein was stripped of her title. Three weeks before she was stripped of her title, the Miss Grand Cambodia organization vowed that the Miss Grand International pageant would never return to their country.
The Miss Grand Philippines is currently looking for the successor to CJ, with more than 20 candidates vying for the crown. Check this year's Miss Grand Philippines candidates in the gallery below.
