Rafael Calinisan, lawyer of singer and actor Ronnie Liang, recently clarified in a Facebook post that the singer-actor has no connection with former Presidential Spokesperson Herminio “Harry” Roque, Jr.

This is after a video of them together resurfaced and went viral after the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime (PAOCC) linked Roque to model and pageant contestant Alberto Rodulfo “AR” Serna. Documents found at a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) revealed him as the former spokesperson's “travel companion.”

The video shows Ronnie and Roque on a boat, with the latter joking about asking the showbiz personality to go topless. In another video, he can be heard asking the singer-actor about his wholesome image.

In a statement posted by Ronnie's lawyer on Facebook, he clarified that the singer has “no personal dealings with Atty. Harry Roque.”

“Ronnie was in Dinagat Island last July 2022 to distribute relief goods for the victims of Typhoon Odette. He was with the Philippine Army where he is a reservist,” he wrote.

Atty. Calinisan added that Ronnie only chanced upon the former spokesperson while touring the island after their humanitarian aid mission. He also revealed that Ronnie and Roque was accompanied by soldiers, policemen, and officials from the local government unit.

“The courteous and well-mannered person that he is, Ronnie gamely participated in the vlog of Atty. Roque,” Atty. Calinisan explained.

“Para malinaw, si Ronnie Liang ay hindi po 'alaga' ni Harry Roque tulad ng ibig pakahulugan ng ilan,” he wrote.

He also mentioned that he and Ronnie “had a good laugh” watching the videos. Still, he reminded everyone to instead put efforts into investigating the ill effects of POGOs in the country.

Atty. Rafael also noted how the public and the government should also focus on pushing for laws promoting gender equality and inclusivity, and mentioned how Ronnie is a strong supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Amidst the issue, Ronnie shared a cryptic post on his Facebook page about how people would make things up when they hear nothing about another person.

“However, it's important to remember that you cannot control what others say about you Instead, focus on the best version of yourself and let your actions speak for themselves,” he said.

The actor ended his post, “Over time, your character and integrity will shine through, and the people who matter most will recognize and appreciate you for who you are.”
