The local music industry mourns for the passing of Louie Reyes, one of the original members of the vocal group The New Minstrels.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by jazz singer Ivy Violan, who shared a touching tribute to her dear friend on social media.

"I am with you in your journey and with love and fervent prayers I have asked JESUS to give you the BEST COMFORT and heal you completely," she wrote. "JESUS is so good to you and I believe HE is with you 24/7. I love you and keep singing as you hear every beautiful note. I love you."

Ivy expressed that this was not a goodbye, but a celebration of Louie's remarkable life and musical legacy. She also extended her heartfelt condolences to Louie's grieving family.

"The Philippine Music Industry celebrates the life of our dear Ms. LOUIE REYES. No good-byes, just the best hello to a very very dear friend and colleague."

Meanwhile, Louie's husband Cesar dela Fuente confirmed the sad news in the comments “Today, I lost the love of my life.”

Fans and followers quickly flooded the post with messages of sympathy and love for the late artist and her family.

As of this writing, Louie's cause of death has not been disclosed.

Filmmaker Joey Javier Reyes also paid tribute to the late jazz singer through a heartfelt Facebook post.

"Our hearts are broken again today. Sing high with the choir of angels who wait for you, Louie Reyes. Your voice has shown us glimpses of heaven .... so now you are home where our Father shall listen to the music that He has gifted your soul. You shall be so missed," he said.

Louie Reyes left an indelible mark on the Philippine music scene with her smooth jazz style and powerful voice.

As one of the founding members of The New Minstrels, she helped shape the group's legacy in the '70s. Known for their versatility, the ensemble performed everything from disco and R&B to swing, Broadway, and beloved Filipino classics.

Among their timeless hits are “Smile,” “I Don't Love You Anymore,” “Maligayang Pasko at Masaganang Bagong Taon,” and “Buhat.”
