Apparently, one year na silang engaged ng kanyang boyfriend na si Orion Casareo, at nagpakasal na sila sa huwes even before she found out she was having a baby. The talented actress declared, "I am pregnant. I'm very happy and I am very proud!" Well, Angelika, we're very proud of you, too! You'll make one of the prettiest and most talented moms in local showbiz! Camille Prats Camille returned to the Philippines after giving birth abroad, and headed back to work once again with Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan. Although she was Sunshine Dizon's replacement for the character, the new mom proved that a one-year hiatus didn't spoil her acting chops. Sabi nga niya, "Hindi naman po isyu na galing po kay Sunshine Dizon, tapos napunta sa akin. Pinagkatiwala pa rin [ng GMA-7] ang role sa akin, and for me that's more than enough." Dennis Trillo Dennis has gone a long way since he denied being the father of Carlene Aguilar's baby. The award-winning actor came clean this year and owned up to being one hot daddy! Siyempre, he made us fall in love with him all over again noong nalaman nating friends na ulit sila Carlene, and that he's not running away from his responsibilities as Calix's father. It helped that he portrayed a mature character in Magdusa Ka, and landed another prime time title role in Gagambino. Dennis proved that he deserved the second chance we gave him, and we respect him for that. Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera We just had to put together Marian and Dingdong because they seemed inseparable in 2008, with two primetime shows (MariMar and Dyesebel right after), a birthday concert, plus a movie to boot! At sino ang makalilimot na FHM's Sexiest for 2008 si Marian Rivera, at si Dingdong naman ay itinanghal na "3rd Sexiest Man in the World?" To top everything off, Karylle and Dingdong announced that they'd broken up. Marami ang nag-react, at sinabing si Marian ang dahilan ng breakup nila. It didn't help na kasabay ng movie nina Marian, Dingdong, at Iza Calzado ang announcement na ito, which led people to believe that it was a publicity stunt. But after everything was said and done, and after Karylle moved to another network, the question remains: are Marian and Dingdong really an item? Well, we have the rest of 2009 to find out! Heart Evangelista She belly-danced her way into our Kapuso hearts as Emily in Codename: Asero—her first primetime role after she switched to GMA. Naging open din si Heart sa status ng kanyang love life with Jericho Rosales, at sinuportahan natin siya sa kanyang desisyon to leave her ex, reunite with her family, and change her talent manager. We appreciated her honesty, and we gave her another chance to prove herself. Soon, GMA announced that it would have an experimental team-up in Luna Mystika, with Mark Anthony Fernandez cast as Heart's newest leading man. Napatunayan ng dalawa na may chemistry din sila, kaya naman patuloy ang pagtaas ng ratings ng nasabing show. Iza Calzado It's been a busy year for Iza, with TV and movie projects here and abroad, a new house, and a nomination at the International Emmy Awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series (for her role in Joaquin Bordado). Pero it doesn't mean na porke't tapos na ang taon, tapos na rin maging busy si Izadora! Next year, we're all looking forward to All About Eve, kung saan makasasama niya si best friend Sunshine Dizon! Jennylyn Mercado Jen finally took a stand this year and announced that she would be raising her baby boy on her own—and we're proud of her for being strong. She kept on working even until her last trimester of pregnancy, and after she gave birth last August 16, everyone was relieved that the emotional stress she went through during her pregnancy didn't affect the baby. Excited din ang lahat nang bumalik na siya sa S.O.P. after her short showbiz hiatus, especially since nagkaroon din ng announcement na magkakaroon ulit sila ng project ni Mark Herras in 2009! Katrina Halili Pinanindigan na talaga ni Katrina ang kanyang sexy status by delving into mature roles involving love scenes on TV and in the movies. But this girl is not only sexy—she's a versatile actress as well. Naging hit ang kanilang team-up ni Dennis Trillo sa Magdusa Ka, kaya naman nagkaroon sila ng follow-up prime time project, ang Gagambino. Pinatunayan rin niya ang kanyang acting prowess sa Obra, kung saan nakapares niya ang mga veteran actors sa mga mini-movies ng show na ito. Kat also became the endorser of Belo Medical Group, which plastered her scantily-clad billboard all over the major highways in the Metro. Pero medyo rocky ang ending ng year ni Kat, lalo na't nasangkot siya sa intriga involving Dr. Vicki Belo's ex-boyfriend Hayden Kho, Jr. She was rumored to be the one of the causes of the Vicki-Hayden breakup, pero wala pa talagang official statement about this. We'll find out in 2009! Mark Anthony Fernandez Napamahal tayo kay Mark Anthony with his endearing portrayal as Cyrus opposite Regine Velasquez in Ako si Kim Samsoon. That show catapulted him to leading man status, kaya naman nasundan kaagad ang Samsoon with Luna Mystika, where he plays Heart Evangelista's love interest. But even with a new leading lady, naging hit pa rin ang experimental team-up na ito, proving that Mark Anthony really is a great actor. Marky Cielo The year also had its share of tears, especially for the fans and supporters of Marky Cielo, who passed away last December 7, 2008. iGMA came up with a special page for the 20-year old actor as our way of remembering him and thanking him for all the happy memories. Visit it by clicking this link. Pinoy Idol! Gretchen Espina was declared the very first Pinoy Idol, and runners-up Jayann Bautista and Ram Chavez gained celebrity status as well. Pinoy Idol also marked the biggest hosting gig of Raymond Gutierrez, and the popularity of the strictest judge in the panel, Wyngard Tracy. Survivor Philippines Paolo Bediones hosted this international franchise, and he didn't let us down. Naging certified nationwide hit ang Survivor Philippines, and as expected, the castaways became instant favorite personalities and celebrities, specifically JC Tiuseco, who was declared the First Pinoy Sole Survivor.
