
Korean entertainment site Soompi has reported that SM Entertainment, the agency handling the career of K-pop girl group aespa, has taken legal action against unnamed netizens who defamed the group.
Soompi released the agency's official statement about this serious issue.
The article reads, “Hello, this is SM Entertainment.
We would like to provide an update regarding the legal actions being taken against malicious posts and comments including defamation, insults, and sexual harassment, related to our artist aespa.
Through reports from fans and our own monitoring efforts, we have been collecting evidence of malicious posts and comments targeting aespa. Based on this evidence, we filed complaints for charges such as insults, defamation, and the editing and distribution of false video materials, and we are currently proceeding with legal action.
We would like to inform you that investigations are underway as multiple individuals have been identified among the accused and that some cases have been forwarded to the prosecution and received final rulings from the court as detailed below:

SM Entertainment also reiterated in their statement that they will do everything they can to protect aespa.
“We will continue to take strong measures and actions against those who post malicious content, videos, and images targeting aespa, regardless of whether they are based domestically or internationally.
“We remain committed to doing our utmost to protect the rights and interests of our artists.”
The four-member group debuted in November 2020 and is composed of Karina, Winter, Ningning, and Giselle.
Some of the big hits of aespa include "Black Mamba," "Next Level," and "Whiplash."
