Aiai delas Alas on renewing marriage vows with Gerald Sibayan: “Ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng asawa na maayos.”
Aiai Delas Alas and her husband, Gerald Sibayan, celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary ahead by renewing their marriage vows in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas, USA, in November 30.
Aiai and Gerald tied the knot on December 12, 2017. The occasion also coincided with Gerald's 28th birthday.
Aside from the double celebration, Aiai said they decided to renew their marriage vows because life is too short.
“Maiksi ang buhay. Ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng asawa na maayos at nagkaroon kami ng fifth year wedding anniversary. So, looking forward ako sa 10th, ganun,” the Comedy Concert Queen said during a pocket press conference held recently.
Aiai also mentioned that she wants this to be a tradition in their marriage.
She told the media, “Parati kaming magre-renew: five, 10, 15, 20… di ba, para maiba naman. Kasi, 'yung iba nakakainggit, may renewal of vows sila ng 10 years. Sabi ko, 'Diyos ko, baka hindi na ako tumagal ng 10 years, 'no! Baka mategi bam-bam [mamatay] na ako. Di ba, at least naranasan kong mag-renew.”
According to Aiai, she and Gerald initially wanted to just do the renewal of vows without any guest. However, some of their friends insisted to attend the occasion.
“Ayun, masaya kami. Ang saya-saya namin. Dapat dalawa lang talaga kami doon. Kaso, 'yung friend ko talagang sabi niya, aligaga kasi 'yun, sabi niya, 'Basta pupunta kami.' Kaya may friends kami doon,” Aiai recalled.
She continued, “Dapat sa San Francisco lang 'yun. E, para naman maiba, kasi kapag sa San Francisco 'yung mga friends namin, e, ganun… e, tipidity, siyempre, tipid tayo. Kaya ayun, para dalawa na lang kami and walang invited and wala ring magtatampo na hindi sila in-invite. So, 'yung mga nandun na kasama ko, in-invite nila 'yung mga sarili nila.”
Aiai is currently in the Philippines to do a few tapings for the fifth season of The Clash. On December 19, she will go back to America, where she will spend Christmas and New Year celebrations with her husband Gerald and her kids.
