Prima Donnas actress Aiko Melendez has been spending the quarantine period improving her body and health by pursuing strict diet and exercise.

Earlier in June, she shocked her followers with her slimmer figure in a photo posted on her Instagram account. She also revealed that she went from size 10 to six at the time.

In an exclusive interview with Unang Hirit earlier today, August 11, the seasoned actress shared that she went through a rigorous weight loss journey.

“I went as low as 500 calories on my first month. Ganu'n ka-wild talaga. 'Yung discipline ko talaga.

"Buti na lang, na-quarantine tayo ngayon. Sa bahay lang ako, monitored ko 'yung pagkain ko,” she said.

Aiko then related that she uses a fitness app to better monitor her diet.

“I have to prepare my meal. So, talagang kina-count ko 'yon. May app ako to count all what I eat. Talagang disiplinado and the lifestyle, I had to change it,” she added.

In the first month of her weight loss journey, Aiko went for as low as 500 calories per day, eating one hard-boiled egg every breakfast and lunch.

In the second month, after achieving her desired weight, she went to 1000 calories per day, mainly eating fruits and vegetables.

Despite having high blood pressure, Aiko still managed to reduce weight while maintaining her blood pressure.

Meanwhile, aside from taking better care of herself, the actress also ventured into an online business, which sells various gadgets that protect consumers against bacteria and viruses.

“Mayroon akong anti-virus necklace, mayroon akong mga lamp. Nag-order ako nang nag-order hanggang sa sine-sell ko siya online. Naging okay siya, so tinuluy-tuloy ko na siya.

“Hanggang sa dumating na sa point na sabi ko gagawin ko na 'tong negosyo.

"Pina-register ko na siya sa DTI [Department of Trade and Industry]. Legal itong business ko,” Aiko shared.

Aiko likewise expressed her gratitude towards the nearing resumption of taping of top-rating afternoon series Prima Donnas.

“With God's grace, magte-taping na kami dahil nami-miss na kami talaga ng lahat ng Kapuso na nanonood.

"Ito na, naghahanda na kami. Although may nerbyos pa rin para sa aming lahat,” she said.

Prima Donnas is set to return on GMA Afternoon Prime on August 17.
