alessandra de rossi on unang hirit

Alessandra de Rossi believes 'Through Night & Day''s "new flavor" is the core ingredient that brought the film to its success.

Through Night & Day actress Alessandra de Rossi shared the story behind the movie's success during her guest appearance on Unang Hirit today, July 28.

According to Alessandra, she believes that her hit movies Kita Kita and Through Night & Day achieved their popularity among Filipino viewers because of their uncanny “formula.”

Siguro nga 'yung Kita Kita talagang broke the formula of the original Pinoy films.

“At ito na naman tayo [sa Through Night & Day], ang leading man natin at leading lady natin ay 'yung mga hindi itinuturing na leading man at leading lady.

"'Tapos nagda-drama silang dalawa and then naiiyak kayo sa kanila. So parang feeling ko 'yun yon,” she said.

Aside from being the film's lead actor, Alessandra and her leading man, Kapuso actor Paolo Contis, were also the movie's producers.

“Nu'ng shoot na mismo, parang 'yung tipong titingnan mo 'yung set up, titingnan mo 'yung production design.

"Kaya lang sa utak ko talaga, hindi ko na kaya ng any other kind of stress,” she said.

In addition, Alessandra shared that she conceptualized the story and primarily planned to spearhead its scriptwriting and directing.

Baka mamaya masira ko 'yung script',” she said.

Through Night & Day first hit Philippine cinemas in 2018 but only made waves on the internet when it landed on the streaming site Netflix earlier this month.

The film quickly took the attention of the public and became the top trending movie in the site for days.

Meanwhile, since show business is halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alessandra shared that she spends the community quarantine period unlocking some cooking skills.

And then ice cream, natuto akong gumawa ng vegan ice cream,” she said.
