Alex Diaz is proving that his passion extends beyond the stage and screen as he continues to grow his New York-style pizza business, City Slice Pizza Lounge.
Featured by Susan Enriquez on Pera Paraan, Alex opened up about how his love for food inspired him to venture into entrepreneurship.
"When we started this, doon ko na-realize na I'm definitely living a passion of mine," he said.
Although he has built a career in television and theater, Alex said running a restaurant has given him a different kind of fulfillment.
"With food, it's definitely an emotional experience, and as an actor, that's one thing na sobrang naiintindihan ko," he shared.
According to Alex, the idea for the business began with a simple experiment at home.
"Napag-trip-an namin na gumawa ng pizza dough and bumili kami ng pizza maker. Inaraw-araw lang namin siya hanggang sa na-perfect namin 'yung dough. Doon nag-set sa amin na parang it would be nice opening our own restaurant," he recalled.
For Alex, pizza is more than just a meal, it represents togetherness and celebration.
"It's more than just food. It represents gathering, celebration, sharing, pakikisama, paghahalubilo. Every time na lumilingon ako sa buhay ko, I always remember pizza has always been a big part of gathering," he said.
One thing customers can expect from City Slice Pizza Lounge, Alex added, is value for money.
"When you get an XL slice, sulit na sulit siya. Hindi kami nagtitipid sa ingredients. Gusto namin iparamdam sa mga Pinoy 'yung values natin na siksik," he said.
