As a reaffirmation of trust, excellence, and shared commitment to GMA Integrated News' “mas malaking misyon at mas malawak na paglilingkod sa bayan,” multi-platform veteran broadcast journalist Pia Arcangel remains a loyal Kapuso as she renewed her contract on August 29.

A proud Kapuso since 2002, Pia has been at the forefront of delivering news and public service. With a career spanning more than 20 years in the media industry - from producing documentaries to covering politics, crime, breaking news, and sports stories, and anchoring news programs - Pia is among the most esteemed broadcast journalists of her generation.

She currently anchors GMA Integrated News' late-night newscast Saksi. Together with Ivan Mayrina, Pia also anchors top-rating weekend news program 24 Oras Weekend. She is regularly seen in various news coverage specials, including the President's annual State of the Nation Address. She currently hosts Power Talks with Pia Arcangel, the interview podcast produced by GMAIN's Digital Strategy and Innovation Lab (DigiLab), where she provides listeners with exclusive and relevant insights from the country's most influential figures.

Through the years, she has been the recipient of various local and international broadcast journalism awards, including the Best Female Anchor from Gawad Tanglaw and the Best Female Anchor and Female News Personality of the Year from the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards, among others. Pia was shortlisted in the Presenter of the Year category at the 2024 Association for International Broadcasting Awards (AIBs), joining the ranks of prominent journalists from international outlets such as ABC, CNA (Mediacorp), and Al Jazeera English. She was also nominated in the same category in 2023 for her GMA Integrated News podcast.

As she celebrates more than two decades in GMA, Pia has nothing but kind words for her Kapuso Network. “To my GMA bosses, peers, and our dearest Kapuso - my sincerest gratitude for the trust and confidence that you have extended my way all these years. Ang mapabilang sa GMA Integrated News ay isang napakalaking karangalan at makakaasa po kayo sa aking patuloy na paglilingkod at paghahatid ng balitang makatotohanan at maaasahan,” she said.

The Network, in turn, is happy that Pia remains a loyal Kapuso.

In his video message, GMA Network Chairman Atty. Felipe L. Gozon underscored Pia's value to the Network. “Pia Arcangel is one of GMA Integrated News' most valued personalities. Gabi-gabi, tinututukan ng manunuod ang kanyang late-night newscast na 'Saksi.' Tuwing Sabado at Linggo naman, hinahatid niya ang mga balita sa '24 Oras Weekend.' Bukod sa telebisyon, pinagkakatiwalaan din siya sa larangan ng podcast. Sa katunayan, ako ang naging kauna-unahan niyang guest sa podcast niyang 'Power Talks with Pia Arcangel.' Kaya naman, ako at ang buong GMA Network ay nagagalak na nananatili siyang loyal Kapuso for more than two decades. Congratulations, Pia, and thank you for your continued dedication and excellence,” Atty. Gozon said.

Duavit likewise, underscored Pia's range as a broadcast journalist and expressed his gratitude to the GMA Integrated News anchor, noting how Pia is an embodiment of a loyal Kapuso.

“Ano man ang audience, basta mayroong may pangangailangan, may bumabagay. Siya (Pia) bagay sa lahat. When there is a special event or special coverage-maging eleksyon 'yan o maging sa Buckingham Palace - si Pia. Maging audience ngayon sa digital o audience sa telebisyon - si Pia. Maging 'Tunay na Buhay, 'Art Angel' - si Pia. Kaya't isa akong tagahanga ni Pia. At nagpapasalamat sa pagkakataon na pasalamatan ka dahil isa kang ehemplo ng tunay at inaasam-asam na Kapuso. You are the ideal, you personify it, you exemplify [it], and you make us all proud. We are very grateful na minabuti mong manatiling Kapuso. And we are very happy that you continue and will continue for more years to come. Maraming salamat sa iyo. You have our gratitude,” he added.

“GMA Integrated News is grateful for Pia especially for the commitment and dedication she puts into her work as a news presenter for 'Saksi' and '24 Oras Weekend,” said Amoroso. “Echoing what our President and CEO said, in this fast-evolving media landscape, you stood out to become a multi-platform journalist- seamlessly transitioning from TV to digital tapos TV ulit. Maraming salamat, Pia, for all the things that you have done for us, especially for the coverage. Napakahirap ng mga coverage ngayon. It's either it's a one-man team or 'yung preparations napaka bilis. So maraming salamat.”

Pia can only look forward to more years of being a loyal Kapuso. “As I continue to carry out my anchor duties on 'Saksi' and '24 Oras Weekend,' I am guided by the same passion that brought me to GMA Network more than 20 years ago - which means the pursuit of relevant and impactful stories will continue. I am also particularly excited about bringing stories that inspire and empower to the digital space - where we continue to grow our presence with the newest season of 'Power Talks with Pia Arcangel' set to begin next month,” Pia said.
