Container gardening is the practice of growing plant in small containers instead of directly on the ground.
It has become popular in urban settings as it will allow you to grow edible plants even if you do not have a big space.
Now that we are in the "new normal," more and more people are looking into this option, whether as a hobby or as a means to augment their food supply.
New Normal: The Survival Guide series Newsmakers asked urban gardener Bea Hardinera or Bea Macalino Buñi for a few tips for people who want to try container gardening.
Bea says it is important to do research before planting or buying any seeds or gardening supplies.
Different plants have different requirements.
For example, leafy greens require a minimum of three to five hours of sun a day while fruiting vegetables need six to eight hours.
Doing prior research on these vegetables will ensure if your space is apt for growing them.
Bea also recommends to start small.
Planting in containers are the way to go as they are very manageable in terms of care and maintenance.
"Kailangan nating maging realistic sa ating pagtatanim. Start small muna tayo.
Her third tip is more of an encouragement as she recognizes that not everyone has a green thumb.
