Director Rico Gutierrez has a full plate as he helms yet another hit GMA show. iGMA sits down with him to talk about Pinoy Records.
Director Rico Gutierrez has his hands full. Aside from directing Showbiz Central and Kap’s Amazing Stories, this young director was tapped to direct Manny Pacquiao’s first television show on GMA, Pinoy Records. How does it feel to be directing the Pambansang Kamao? What is the concept of Pinoy Records? This young director sits down with iGMA to give us the story behind the scenes of Pinoy Records. All about Pinoys The official chronicler of amazing Pinoy feats, Pinoy Records highlights outstanding Filipinos who have somehow made their mark. Hosted by sports superstars, Manny Pacquiao and Chris Tiu, they present to us a milestone on Philippine television. But don’t be misguided, this show is not all about sports. Direk Rico was quick to enlighten us about the concept of the program. “This is not just only for sports but sa larangan ng kahit anong arts, for example, sa music, even sa lifestyle at saka of course sa sports. May mga kakaiba kaming segments, kunwari mga buko king, may ganyan din kaming mga segments.” He was also quick to refute that this show is not like the Guiness Book of World Records. “Parang ganoon, pero of course this is all localized, wala kaming canned materials from the Guiness Book of World Records. This is more like kung sino 'yung mga magagaling na Pinoy na pwedeng i-feature dito sa atin. We also want to do something fresh,” said the director of Pinoy Records. Directing the record breaker Quite thrilled to direct the Pambansang Kamao, Direk Rico Gutierrez shared the experience of their first day at Pinoy Records. “Ang bait sobra! At saka kalog din ‘sya so ang ginawa naming treatment parang ginagawa nya 'yung mga moves nya sa camera, 'yung mga upper cut nya. Minsan ginagalaw namin 'yung camera, para maging fun ding panoorin ng mga bata,” he explained. He also confessed that he feels a little pressured because he has to work around the tight schedule of Manny. “We are really pressed for time. But of course, we also understand kasi ang dami nyang mga previous engagements din.” Quite excited to do the show, Direk Rico says that he has big plans for Pinoy Records and its two prominent hosts and has somehow made a promise to beat the records with this show.
