Beatrice Luigi Gomez arrives to a fitting homecoming for a queen.
Philippine bet Beatrice Luigi Gomez received a grand homecoming courtesy of the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Philippine Navy (PNP) following her impressive 70th Miss Universe journey.
The Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) shared snaps of the navy's welcome for the beauty queen.
Bea is a reservist of the Philippine Navy's Marine corps with the rank of sergeant as a non-commissioned officer.
The DND has officially released a statement congratulating Bea for her Top 5 finish: “Congratulations on making it to the Top 5, Sergeant Beatrice Luigi Gallarde Gomez PN (M) (Res)! Your One Defense Team is truly proud of you!”
The PN as well has congratulated their reservist for bringing glory to the country.
“Kudos for making it into the Top 5 of Miss Universe 2021! Thank you for representing us, Sgt. Beatrice Luigi Gomez PN(M)(Res). Your Philippine Navy is proud of you!”
Gomez underwent Basic Citizens Military Course training in Eastern Visayas and has been part of the Philippine Navy Reserve Unit after finishing the class.
Gomez has reportedly said that part of the reason she chose to enlist herself in the navy is to help vulnerable communities in her hometown in Cebu.
Incidentally, because of the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, homecoming festivities for the 26-year-old stunner would be postponed for the meantime. According to Bea, her family has been trapped in their apartment home and she prioritizes their welfare at the moment.
