Beauty Gonzalez is at the Sundance Film Festival to represent her film 'In My Mother's Skin.'
Beauty Gonzalez is all set to represent the country in the international film festival scene as she arrives at the Sundance Film Festival for the horror film In My Mother's Skin.
In several posts on her Instagram account, Beauty shared photos of her outfits for the 10-day long festival that is considered the largest independent film festival in the United States. In her post announcing the premiere of the film this January 21 (US Time), Beauty expressed her excitement at the opportunity to show the film to the Sundance audience. She also wrote that it was an “honor and a privilege” to represent the country at such a prestigious event.
In My Mother's Skin is a Philippine-Singapore-Taiwan co-production with Epicmedia, Zhao Wei Films, Volos Films, and Clover Films, and follows the story of a girl who, while tending to her dying mother, gets acquainted with a flesh-eating fairy. Aside from Beauty, also in the cast is Kapuso actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith and local thespians Angeli Bayani, Ronnie Lazaro, and Arnold Reyes.
On her Instagram account, Jasmine shared her joy when it was first announced that the film would be included in the festival's program.
“A dream come true. Sundance Film Festival 2023, we are coming for you. From watching old Sundance entries in my high school bedroom to being cast in a film that will premiere at the film festival!!! It's been 12 years since I began professionally acting and this definitely takes the freaking highlight,” she wrote.
The film is part of the festival's Midnight category, which the festival describes as for films that “defy any genre” and would keep audiences wide awake and on the edge of their seats.
The film's inclusion in the Sundance Film Festival program is yet another accolade for local film-making and acting, coming after the multiple accolades that actress Dolly De Leon has received for her work in Triangle of Sadness.
