Nagsalita na ang Ben&Ben tungkol sa isyung binabato sa kanilang performance sa isang event sa Far Eastern University (FEU) noong August 17.

Hindi umano sila sumunod sa event schedule, na naging dahilan daw kung bakit ilan sa mga banda ay hindi nakapag-perform sa event. Isa sa mga ito bandang Dwta, na nauna pa umano sa line-up ng performers.

Sa statement na pinost ng Ben&Ben sa kanilang Facebook page noong Lunes, August 19, sinabi ng grupong hindi na sila mananahimik para sa kanilang integridad, music, at mga mensaheng gusto nilang iparating gamit ito.

“For years, we have chosen not to speak on the issue of the band being the cause of other performers not being able to perform on certain events. This has caused the band to be dragged left and right with baseless accusations and maligned statements. This being an attack on the band's integrity, and an injustice for all those who support the band's music and message, we have decided to end this issue, once and for all,” sulat ng banda sa kanilang statement.

Ayon pa sa banda, nagkaroon na ng maraming delays sa event, at sinabing may constant communication ang kanilang management sa organizers. Nilinaw din umano ng kanilang management team na priority nila ang masigurong magtutuloy-tuloy lang ang event, at walang performer ang hindi makakasampa ng stage. Kaya naman, naka-stand by lang ang banda at handnag mag-adjust sa kahit anong pagbabago sa event.

“And so, it was heartbreaking on the band's end to learn that in spite of all these preventive measures and constant communication, Dwta, an artist that the band admires and has long been a fan of, was unable to perform, as decided upon by the event organizers,” sabi ng banda.

Pag-amin din ng Ben&Ben, naging malaking pagsubok para sa kanilang management na balansihin ang kanilang professional obligations sa event organizers habang sinisiguradong makakapag-perform ang kanilang kapwa artists sa napagkasunduan oras.

“Though delays in events are unavoidable, our management exercises whichever help is needed to ensure that no artist is dropped out of the program for whatsoever reason. The band has always been passionate about fighting for artists' rights, and even always being willing to accommodate to uncertainty. And we will continue to do so,” sabi ng Ben&Ben.

Nilinaw din nila na ang event organizers ang may huling desisyon sa mga pagbabago sa event. Sinabi rin ng Ben&Ben na nakasaad sa kanilang kontrata na papayag lang silang mag-perform ang kung masisiguradong masusuod ang program flow at walang ibang artist o performer ang maisasantabi.

“In the event that there are unforeseen delays, the band's management will take the necessary steps in communicating with the organizers to ensure that no artist gets sidelined,” sabi nila.

Samantala, sa statement naman ng Dwta sa kanilang sariling Facebook page, sinabihan nila ang kanilang suporters na huwag na magbanggit pa ng pangalan dahil ang event organizers ang dapat sumagot ng issue.

“We kindly ask everyone to refrain from mentioning any artists, as this is getting out of hand. The responsibility for what happened lies with the organizers, and they should be the ones to address it. Thank you for your understanding,” sulat nila.

Tanya Markova issue

Dahil sa issue sa FEU Diliman, bumalik din ang dating isyung binato sa Ben&Ben na iniugnay sa naunang pahayag ng kapwa nila OPM band na Tanya Markova. Parehong performers sana ang dalawang banda sa naganap na Camanava Grand Rally noong 2022.

Ngunit sa guest appearance ng Tanya Markova sa podcast na “KoolPals,” sinabi nilang mauuna dapat silang mag-perform sa Ben&Ben kaya laking gulat nalang nila nang makita ang banda sa stage habang nasa backstage pa sila.

Sa hiwalay na statement ng Ben&Ben noong Lunes, sinabi nilang gusto na nilang tapusin ang mga akusasyon na ipinapataw sa kanila.

Sulat nila sa statement, “It was never the intention nor the action of the band nor the band's management to sideline other artists during the “Camanava” grand rally. It was the responsibility of the organizers to take accountability for the logistical mishaps of the said event. The band itself was also a victim of the unforeseen delays, as with Tanya Markova and the other groups. This is indicated in the full message that we have sent to the management of Tanya Markova, and other involved parties, back in 2022.”

Dagdag pa ng Ben&Ben, “The band had taken the extra steps of reaching out not only to Tanya Markova, but to all the other affected performers, even if it was the responsibility of the organizers of the event to own up and be accountable,” sulat nila.

Ayon pa sa banda, meron silang screenshot at receipt na nagpapatunay nito.

Sa huli, sinabi ng Ben&Ben, “In all this, we hope this finally brings [the] truth out and holds the right parties accountable.”
