Another heartfelt masterpiece was created by renowned Filipino band Ben&Ben as they officially release their new 2024 single "COMETS" on May 10.

With Sony Music Entertainment, the band invited everyone on a life journey as their single conveyed the nature of relationships having fallouts and disconnections. It also gave viewers a nostalgia vibe as it looks back at memories with mixed feelings of loss and deep thoughts. The experience that it brought to fans offered a bright promise of hope and acceptance, no matter the end result.

“Though mostly dwelling on that feeling of loss, the song ends with the hopeful realization of gratitude--being thankful for ever having experienced any of it at all,” Ben&Ben explained in a press statement.

Songwriters of the single, Paolo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin, shared that the inspiration of the song was from the many losses of people that they've encountered in different parts of their lives over the past four years.

“With each loss comes a painful process of asking why the nature of life is as such,” the band said.

They also added that, "The answer is hardly ever straightforward, but reveals itself over long periods of time. "COMETS" is an expression of that very journey, and hopes to help the listener through these realities in their lives too.”

Ben&Ben also revealed that “COMETS” was their longest song that they tried to fine tune and play around with in terms of arrangement and song structure.

The song has gone through several changes since they started jamming it together in the latter parts of 2021.

Eventually, Ben&Ben found the right musical direction and vision for the song, pulling from their own experience of loss to settle on a version that they're most comfortable working with.

Besides their continuous effort, Ben&Ben also collaborated with Indonesian producer Petra Sihombing. As the renowned producer added some final touches to the track, "COMETS" was further improved.

“The band probably had about 90 percent of the song down, but it was Petra's very weighty 10 percent that really helped make the song what it is now.”

Now that they have released their single, the band hopes that LIWANAG fans would resonate to the parting words of the song. Particularly the lines, “Though these nights are turning gray, still I am thankful for what's passed. I know there will come a day when I will finally understand.”

For Ben&Ben, they wanted to teach their fans that gratitude and hope can come without totally understanding what's behind it all.

“We're on the same journey of finding these answers ourselves -- of why life is fleeting. And with that hope comes the strength and courage we need to keep going, to keep loving, and to keep on finding meaning in our experiences.”

Ben&Ben is an award-winning nine-piece Folk-Pop band who's known for their heartfelt lyrics, unique musicality, and electric stage presence. They dedicate their songs to their listeners, spreading hope, love, and positivity.

Some of their hit songs include "Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay," "Kathang Isip," "Pagtingin," and "Araw-Araw."

Their popularity extends not only locally but internationally as well. Ben&Ben performs in other countries and collaborates with international stars like Day6's Young K for the rendition of "Leaves."
