Kapuso comedian Betong Sumaya is gearing up to bring laughter once again to Kapuso fans abroad as he joins the lineup of "Sparkle Goes to Japan" on September 1.

During Sparkle World Tour 2024's grand media conference, Betong expressed his excitement about meeting Pinoys abroad. He recalled his previous meet-up with them back around 2015.

"Ang saya po kasi kaya nga first time na na-experience ko noon (to meet fans abroad ) tapos as Antonietta ako ng Bubble Gang. 'Yun nga lang po matagal na. Ibang klase po ang pagyakap ng mga Kapuso natin. Talagang ramdam na ramdam mo 'yung na miss nila. Tapos naalala nila iyong shows ng GMA," he shared.

Betong couldn't forget how proud and grateful he felt when he knew his shows were also being watched and loved overseas.

"Kapag sinabi nila na, 'Napapanood namin 'yung show mo,' iba yung feeling na parang, 'Wow! Kahit nasa ibang bansa alam nila 'yung shows ng GMA', " he happily shared.

Now that he's visiting Tokyo, Betong couldn't help but be nostalgic since his last visit to Japan was when he was part of the award-winning show i-Witness. Before, he traveled to write a documentary, but now he'll be performing for global Pinoys.

"Yung Tokyo, Japan is my first ever country na napuntahan ko. For i-Witness pa before. That time syempre wala namang performance kasi you're writing documentaries. So ngayon iba 'yung feeling kasi year 2000 pa iyon, so daming nagbago. So hindi pa ako nakapunta ng Tokyo Disneyland noon. So ngayon, siguro mapupuntahan ko na," he said.

The Kapuso star shared his expectations, looking forward to bringing joy to fans with their Filipino-themed performances.

"Pero syempre aside from that, pag-perform ko, eh, siguro-iba 'yung feeling pagka narinig ng mga global pinoys mga kanta na siguradong hit sa kanila. Ang saya, iba ang tuwa at mga ngiti nila 'yung parang you're bringing them doon sa Pilipinas lalo na sa mga matatanda na hindi nakakauwi. Iba 'yung feeling na kahit sandali lang mapasaya mo sila. Maramdaman nila na nandoon mga Kapuso so, it's amazing," he said.

Betong will host the tour in Japan together with special guest Ms. Divine Daldal. They will also be joined by Sparkle stars Ruru Madrid, Bianca Umali, Rayver Cruz, Julie Anne San Jose, Jillian Ward, and Ken Chan.
