BLACKPINK with James Corden

What is your favorite #BLACKPINKCarpool moment?

After headlining Coachella 2023, BLACKPINK is featured on the American talk show The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Their segment kicked off with BLACKPINK and show host James Corden belting out "Pink Venom" while James is driving with Rosé in the passenger's seat, while Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo were at the back.

James, later on, asks the girls., "How long ago did you form as a band?"

Lisa quickly answers, "Ten years ago."

Jennie shares a brief backstory of how they formed as a group, "Actually, we have a training system. We called ourselves trainees."

When asked how a typical training day was back then for them,

Rosé recalls, "We start at 9 or 10 am to get ready. We go at 11 am and we practice all through 2 a.m., even on weekends."

She continued, "We get one day off every fortnight on a Sunday."

Amazed at the effort the girls made, James says, "This is an incredible amount of dedication."

Rosé narrated how she left home in Australia at 16 to move to South Korea for training. The hardest part was saying goodbye to her friends without revealing where she was going. "I couldn't explain, I said just wait and see...I will show you."

Though their schedule was hectic--leaving barely any time for family and friends, Jennie said they were so focused on training that they didn't feel too homesick. "I think the competition was so intense that we kind of forget that we're missing some parts of our lives."

Jennie adds, "There are different tests that we do, different videos we have to shoot, and it keeps coming every day, every week. We weren't really looking back to our homes, we were like, 'Let's survive this.'"

She also shared one of BLACKPINK's inspirations during their training period, "We loved TLC's music, they had vocals, rap, and hip-hop."

James commends the girls for breaking multiple music records, including the most streamed female group on Spotify with 8.88 million streams, the Guinness World Record for most viewed group music channel on YouTube, and becoming the first K-pop group to reach number one on the U.S. album charts.
