BTS member Jin confirmed the exact date of his military enlistment in December.

BTS member Jin, real name Kim Seokjin, is set to start his military enlistment in December, according to a report from South Korean media.

Citing industry sources, Yonhap News reports that 29-year-old Jin will be starting his five-week basic training on December 13 at Yeoncheon County in Gyeonggi Province. He is then expected to be deployed to a “frontline unit” once he is done with his training.

Jin's label, BigHit Music, had initially commented that it was “hard to confirm” whether the Yonhap News article was true, Jin himself confirmed it by going onto the fan community app Weverse.

According to fan translator @bora_twts, Jin mentioned in his post that he did not intend for the information on his enlistment to come out.

“Though an article I didn't want was posted, our ARMYs should not come to the training base. There will be many people besides me who will come, so because it will be chaotic/crowded, it could be dangerous,” he wrote.

Jin's enlistment comes after the release of “The Astronaut,” a solo song that Jin made together with the English band Coldplay. Jin performed the song together with Coldplay in Argentina in front of an estimated 70,000 people. The song has also gone on to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 at 51st place.

Jin's enlistment also comes after he and his bandmates in BTS successfully staged a concert in Busan to boost South Korea's chances in hosting the World Expo in 2030. Before the Busan concert, Jin and BTS held several successful “Permission to Dance” stadium concerts in the United States, specifically at the SoFi Stadium in California and the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Military enlistment in South Korea is mandatory for all able-bodied South Korean males, and usually lasts for 18 months.
