Jin of BTS

Jin of BTS is scheduled to enter the military for mandatory service this November.

BTS has just announced plans for their members' mandatory military enlistment and they're starting off with the group's eldest, Kim Seok-jin or Jin.

The group's record label BIGHIT Music confirmed the news on Monday, with Jin aiming to enlist at the end of the month.

South Korea has a mandatory 18-month military service for almost all its able-bodied males.

The country's parliament passed a bill in 2020 allowing celebrities and artists who excel in popular culture and art to defer their service until the age of 30.

With Jin about to turn 30 in December of this year, and BTS's announcement in June of a "break" to focus on solo projects, the legendary boy group is also planning to serve in the military.

In October, BTS reunited for a free two-day concert in Busan to support South Korea's World Expo 2030 bid.
