In a recent episode of "Updated with Nelson Canlas," it featured actor and comedian Buboy Villar, who shared his showbiz career journey.

The Running Man Philippines cast member recalled he first tried his luck in showbiz through a singing competition and was later on discovered by director Maryo J. delos Reyes.

Buboy shared how he owes a lot of his career to Marian Rivera, whom he starred with in Dyesebel.

He said, “Doon 'yung parang first click ko talaga na show eh,” he said. “Kung hindi dahil sa kaniya at sa direktor naming si Direk Joyce (Bernal), sa pagtiwala [nila] sa 'kin, hindi talaga mabubuo itong Buboy.”

Buboy continued, "Thank you, Ate Yan, kasi sobrang laki ng tulong at part mo sa buhay ko kasi ikaw 'yung naging ate ko no'n eh. Lalo na ngayon. Actually, mag-kumare kami. From mag-ate to mag-kumare,” he added.

Since working with Marian in the fantasy series, Buboy shared that the Kapuso Primetime Queen has repeatedly requested for him to co-star with her in various shows. Among the other projects they worked on together are Amaya and Super Inday.

Meanwhile, Buboy also recalled his humble beginnings as a “mangangalakal,” and how it served as his motivation to keep trying his best in the industry.

“Nagsimula lang 'to sa pang-bigas eh. Kailangan kong gawin 'to para pang-bigas. Lahat ng ginagawa ko, pangkain 'to at para sa pamilya.”

“'Yon ang naging gasolina ko para mas mag-move forward pa sa kung anong kaya kong gawin para sa pamilya ko,” he revealed.

“Sa murang edad, nakita ko kasi 'yung reality.”
