Everyone knows Carlos Yulo as the Olympian who brought two gold medals to the country after the 2024 Paris Olympics, but will the country soon see him as a television star? According to the man himself, that might not be happening anytime soon.
During an exclusive interview with GMA Lifestyle, Carlos shared that acting is definitely something that he is not considering anytime soon. Game shows on the Kapuso Network, on the other hand, are a different story.
“Kapag acting po, hindi ko po talaga 'yun kaya. May mga pinanganak po talaga para doon,” he explained with a laugh when asked about possible television projects. “Family Feud, nakasali ako dalawang beses, it was really fun. Siguro, 'yung mga tungkol sa sports, pwede po ako.”
While acting may be out of the picture, Carlos has expressed interest in possibly being a host of a GMA News and Public Affairs program.
“Open din ako ma-experience ang News and Public Affairs program. Kapag tatlo lang 'yung choices, game show, acting, and 'yan, mas doon pupunta ang gusto kong gawin,” he said. “Pwede din po ang hosting, para ma practice din po 'yung speaking skills ko. I think that's a good opportunity and experience para sa akin outside of gymnastics. Why not?”
If hosting gigs were ever to happen for him, Carlos admits that he will still have to go through a lot of practice before he becomes confident enough to do it.
“Marami talagang magaling mag-host. I think it's a really good skill and a good talent, and wala ako noon,” he said. “If ever na tahakin ko 'yung ganong path, I really need to practice pa, and I'm really open po na gawin siya.”
However, all of this will have to take a back seat as he prepares for the 2028 Olympics. In the same interview with GMA Lifestyle, Carlos revealed that he is set to take part in different competitions in the coming months.
“Right now, meron akong mga competitions na planong salihan, Asian Games 'yung pinakamalaki this year, and Asian Championships, and sasali din po ako sa World Championships this year,” he shared. “Para lang di din po mabakante 'yung mental health ko pagdating sa competition, kasi kapag masyadong matagal, medyo nare-relax din po ako.”
Aside from preparing himself mentally for the 2028 Olympics, Carlos has also been spending time with his family. Earlier this month, he attended the house blessing of his siblings Jorielgel, Karl Eldrew, and Elaiza Yulo.
In an Instagram Reel, Carlos uploaded a video with text that read: “POV: seeing your siblings have a home they can call their own”. In the caption to the post, Carlos wrote “hallelujah”.
In another post, Carlos uploaded multiple photos from the house blessing and congratulated his siblings in the caption, writing: “You guys did it! From dreams, prayers, and hard work, to finally having a place to call your own; your own peace and your own beginning.”
Carlos himself has a number of homes to call his own, one of which was a three-bedroom unit given to him by property developer Megaworld Corporation after his double gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
