Celebrities react to President Duterte's remark to shoot unruly quarantine violators.

Celebrities reacted after President Rodrigo Duterte's address Wednesday (April 1) night.

In the address, the President said, “My orders are sa pulis, pati military, pati mga barangay na pagka-ginulo at nagkaroon ng okasyon na lumaban at ang buhay ninyo ay nalagay sa alanganin, shoot them dead.”

After the airing of the speech, Janine Gutierrez reacted to the President's remark on Twitter.

She wrote, “Well, that was.........”

Lauren Young also lambasted the President's speech.

“Takot na nga yung mga tao because of this virus. Their own government is depriving them of food, their officials are MIA [missing in action], one was parading about without following guidelines and you have the nerve to scare them even more with violence? WHY? How is that helpful?” the actress tweeted.

Alex Diaz also asked the country to 'wake up' after the President's speech.

“Wake up, Philippines!” he wrote.

Actress Agot Isidro also vented out her frustrations on Twitter.

“People are hungry. People are sick. People are dying. And you talk about shooting them dead???” Agot wrote.

“It's a fracking HEALTH CRISIS! Nakakagalit na.”

President Duterte gave the warning after rallyists from Sitio San Roque in Quezon City were arrested for staging a protest as they asked support from the government amid the COVID-19 pandemic and enhanced community quarantine.
