Centerstage resident psychologist

"We want to be as encouraging and inspiring as much as possible,” says Pops Fernandez on judging aspiring young singers on 'Centerstage.'

GMA Network's newest singing competition show Centerstage will be gathering aspiring kiddie performers aged 7 to 12 years old from all over the country, for a world-class yet friendly reality musical show.

Since the competition will be tough for their young minds, Centerstage has made efforts to help the kiddie performers deal with any foreseeable disappointments.

At its media conference held recently, Centerstage host Alden Richards said the show will be having its own psychologist.

Kapuso vocal powerhouse Aicelle Santos, one of the judges of Centerstage, also said: "We have a resident psychologist here para sa mga bata and for the parents as well. We want to be careful with our words, especially."

The show would sought the help of May Soriano, a renowned life coach that has been a part of GMA News TV's now defunct shows Personalan (2011) and Love Hotline (2013).

Concert Queen and Centerstage judge Pops Fernandez also vowed that she will be careful towards the kids in terms of screening them.

She said, "It's hard to judge especially in a contest, siyempre, there will always be a winner and there will be the others who will get disappointed, so mahirap din.

"Ayoko ma-disappoint sila to the point na titigil na nila 'yung dream nila sa pagkanta.

So we want to be as encouraging and inspiring as much as possible.”

Meanwhile, renowned musical director and Centerstage judge Mel Villena added, "We have to be careful with what we say, kasi make or break. It's easier if adults but sa murang pag-iisip, we just have to choose what we say."

With Alden and Betong Sumaya as hosts, who will race to the top and claim the most coveted spot of all -- the Centerstage?

Under the helm of Director Louie Ignacio, follow the journey of these young contestants in Centerstage, starting February 16, every Sunday at 7:40 p.m., on GMA.
