In a radio interview, the spokesman downplayed the concerns of employees living outside the region by saying it will not be difficult for workers in putting food in their family's table during the community quarantine.

He said, “Walang namamatay sa gutom. Sa isang buwan hindi ka mamamatay.

“Konting sakripisyo tayo… [Dahil baka] ikaw ay magiging carrier [ng coronavirus].”

This prompted the actress to raise her concerns about the said statement and wondering if Panelo is aware of the situation outside his class.

“I wonder if he is aware that there are so many Filipinos who do not know if they will be able to put another meal on the table?” she tweeted.

“A little consideration would be appreciated. I am from the working class and if I stop working then soon my family will not suffice,” she added.

Community Quarantine

On Thursday, March 12, President Rodrigo Duterte imposed a 30-day “community quarantine” on Metro Manila, prohibiting travel to and from the city until April 14.

According to the president, this resolution aims to combat the ongoing spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the capital region.

“To my countrymen, do not panic. Please do not be stressed to the point that you may not be able to do what you want to do.

“You can still do so, but we will have restrictions. There will be conditions because there is a crisis.”

This announcement also drew several reactions from the public and celebrities alike.

Celebrities like Saab Magalona, Winwyn Marquez, Gretchen Ho, and Bea Binene have voiced their confusion over the difference between a lockdown and community quarantine.

Aside from the community quarantine, stringent social distancing measures were issued by the President and declared a state of public health emergency in light of the rising cases of COVID-19 infections.

Celebrities with COVID-19

One thing the coronavirus has proved is that it makes no difference who you are --no one is immune.

Hollywood actor Tom Hanks announced on Thursday that he and his wife Rita Wilson have been diagnosed with coronavirus.

The Oscar-winning actor, who is 63, has been in Australia filming for an upcoming Elvis Presley biopic and said he started experiencing the symptoms of the virus.

Hello, folks. @ritawilson and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive. Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks' will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We'll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!

Similarly, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife has tested positive for coronavirus.

The reports came after Sophie Gregorie Trudeau came down with flu-like symptoms after traveling to London. She became sick after her visit and has been isolating herself at home since the diagnosis.
