For Cianne Dominguez, joining this year's Century Tuna Superbod competition is more than just a chance to prove herself physically.

It is also an opportunity to share a once-in-a-lifetime experience with someone who inspired her to take the challenge in the first place: her father, Josh Florendo.

Josh previously joined the biennial health and fitness competition in 2024, but only made it as far as the callback stage.

This time, however, Cianne and Josh are both part of the competition.

For the It's Showtime host, it feels like everything happened at the right time.

"Unang-unang inspiration ko, si Papa. Kasi sumali siya two years ago, pero hanggang callback lang din naman siya.

“And yun nga, happy ako kasi baka ito yung time. Kaya hindi siya natanggap before, two years ago, kasi magkasama na kami ngayon,” Cianne told GMANetwork.com and other entertainment media during the competition's VIP Night last week.

The father-daughter tandem has already created an unforgettable memory for Cianne, particularly during the photoshoot when she surprised Josh with the news.

However, because of his poor eyesight, her father initially failed to recognize what was happening.

"Actually, gumawa nga kami yung reaction video din. Nung, ano, sinurprise ko siya nung photoshoot. Pero, dahil malabo yung mata niya, hindi siya nasurprise sa akin.

“Pero, after nun, umiyak siya, hinag niya ako, tapos umiyak siya. Sabi niya, 'Ngayon pa lang panalo na ako. Ngayon pa lang may iyak na ako, kasi kasama kita.'”

Cianne said having her father beside her has already made the experience worth remembering.

"So, masaya din, masaya din memory ito, core memory ito for me, para sa aming dalawa, na lumalaban kami ng sabay. Kasi sino mag-aakala, di ba?"

Cianne's last-minute Superbod journey

Interestingly, Cianne almost didn't become part of the competition.

By the time she received the call from the organizer, the other candidates had already gone through workshops.

She had already assumed that her chance was over.

"I'm so grateful, sobrang saya ko talaga. Kung makikita niyo lang yung video na ni-record ko after sabihin sa akin, talagang sabi ko, 'Thank you, Lord.' 'Tapos, meron pa akong mini Jesus sa kotse, pinakita ko talaga, sabi ko, 'Sobrang, thank you, Lord. Grabe ka sumagot ng prayers!'

"Kasi akala ko tapos na kasi siyempre, nag-ano na, nag-workshop na sila and everything. So, wala, hindi ko na talaga naisip na makasali ako."

But despite the uncertainty, she continued with her fitness routine.

"Pero, nagtuloy-tuloy pa rin ako. Kasi ginagawa ko, like, consistent workouts, eating healthy food and everything, yun."

Then the call finally came.

"Tinawagan nila ako, sabi nila, 'Are you still willing to be a Superbod?' Sabi ko, of course! Sino bang may ayaw?"

When asked if she could handle the demanding schedule, she remained confident, "Kakayanin po ng schedule yan, basta. Kaya nga ako sumali kasi ready ako, always ready."

Supported by her It's Showtime family

Cianne's journey has also been made easier by the support of her It's Showtime co-hosts.

Upon arriving at the show after being announced as one of the Superbod candidates, she was welcomed with congratulations.

"Tinong-congratulate nila ako nung ano, nung pagdating ko sa Showtime."

"Lahat sila, parang every day nila akong kinong-congratulate, promise. Lalo si Ryan Brang, 'Congratulation, Cianne. Kaya mo yan.' Ganon siya. Ganon siya talaga lagi. Sobrang expressive niya sa lahat ng mga sinasabi niya sa akin."

Darren Espanto, meanwhile, also helped her stay on track with her diet.

"And, ayun, sila, lahat, si Darren, pinutulungan niya ako mag-diet. Kapag sinasabi ko, 'Parang nagugutom pa ako.' Sasabihin niya, 'Hindi, hindi pa.' Ganon siya."

For Cianne, the support has been genuine.

"Super supportive talaga nila. No joke, promise talaga."

'This is the temple of God'

Cianne's preparation isn't limited to physical training.

For Cianne, her physical transformation is connected to her faith.

"Kapag inuna mo talaga si God sa buhay mo, everything will follow."

Then, she explained how she views her body:

"Itong katawan na ito, borrowed body lang ito. So, kailangan natin siya i-glorify through this body. Kailangan natin palagahan ito dahil this is the temple of God."

And while she hopes to win, Cianne knows that the journey matters more than the final result.

"Of course, syempre kaya tayo sumali. Kasi yan talaga yung ina-aim natin. Pero kung hindi naman, kung hindi will and Lord, okay lang naman."

"Kasi ang mahalaga naman talaga sa lahat yung journey, e, at yung lifestyle mo. Kung paano ka magiging consistent kahit walang competition,” she ended.
