Have you ever thought of using bleach in a do-it-yourself project?
Aside from being a versatile cleaning agent, you can use bleach to purposely fade out the colors in old clothes.
It can be an inexpensive way to spruce up and customize old clothes.
Before starting the project, one must remember that bleach is poisonous and can cause skin irritation.
Visual artist Janne Soriano demonstrates how you can customize a shirt using bleach and a stencil.
Materials:
colored shirt
bleach
spray bottle
printed out stencil
cartolina
masking tape
Procedure:
1. Print your design of choice and cut it to make a stencil
2. Stick the stencil onto the shirt using masking tape.
*For v-neck shirts, Janne recommends putting the design at least two fingers below the collar. For round neck shirts, place the design three to four fingers below the collar.
3. Cover the rest of the shirt with cartolina to preserve the color.
4. Spray the bleach onto the stencil.
5. Wait five to ten minutes for the bleach to dry.
