International singer David Archuleta is back in the Philippines for his highly anticipated concert, "Playback Presents: The Best of David Archuleta Live in Manila," happening this Saturday, September 14, at the New Frontier Theater.
As part of his visit, David appeared on GMA Network's morning show Unang Hirit, where he played games and shared stories with the hosts, adding a special touch to the morning broadcast.
During the interview, David expressed his deep nostalgia for the Philippines, remarking on how much he has missed the country and its people after six years from his last visit.
"I miss the Pinoy Archies [fans] and the Pinoys, the people, the culture, (and) the food. I feel like the Philippines is so good in making people feel at home and feel welcome," he said.
David talked about how he always feels a strong connection with his Filipino fans, describing his visits as feeling like coming home.
"I just all love [them], mahal ko kayo," he shared. "When I come here, we're not just good fans and American idol. I feel like we act the same. When I come, I see myself so much in the Filipino culture. So I was like 'Oh my gosh! Am I Filipino?'"
He also highlighted the significance of his Filipino experiences, including his OPM album Forevermore (2012) and his role in the 2012 TV series Nandito Ako, as key moments that deepened his connection with Filipino culture.
"Doing an OPM album for the fans here and doing a mini serye na Nandito Ako, it is like 'Ugh! This feels so part of everyone here. They're part of my life now so I'm always excited," David said.
Now that he's staying in the Philippines for a while, David is looking forward to indulging in Filipino cuisine again, such as sisig, pancit, bangus, and adobo.
