David Licauco

Despite the accident, David Licauco felt he experienced a miracle.

Kapuso actor David Licauco considers it a miracle that he survived an accident. It was in 2013 when he and four of his friends were involved in a vehicular accident. According to the actor, he felt that it was an angel who saved him in that accident.

In his interview with Karen Davila on her vlog, David detailed some of his experiences after the accident in 2013. According to him, the parking attendant who was guiding the driver out of the lot was on his side instead of the driver's, and reminded him to wear a seat belt.

“Natulog ako kasi I was really sleepy, and then dun sa may toll gate, for some reason, nagising ako bigla, parang may gumising sa'kin and I remembered what that parking boy told me, then I did, nag-seat belt ako,” he said.

He then added, “Then after 10 minutes along Parañaque, we hit a gas truck. Miracle lang din talaga.”

David has already detailed what happened in a separate interview with vlogger and manager Ogie Diaz, of how they hit a gas truck while driving from Tagaytay on the expressway.

“Noong 2013 naaksidente kasi kami ng mga kaibigan ko. Sa SLEX, tumama kami sa parang gas truck, tapos na-injure ako, 'tapos my best friend died. We were five, we came from Tagaytay, we were 18 years old lang at that time, 2013. Tapos ayun nakatulog 'yung driver, tapos we hit a gas truck,” he recalled.

David then revealed to Karen how he placed blame on himself at the time.

“Medyo sinisi ko rin 'yung sarili ko 'cause what if I didn't sleep? What if sinamahan ko 'yung driver na parang puwede siyang maiwasan kung naging mas aware ako, kung naging mas wise ako in that situation,” he said.

Despite what happened, the actor said that he felt it was a miracle that saved his life when he woke up and put on his seat belt.

“Feeling ko angel 'yung gumigising sa'kin, si God talaga. I don't know, baka weird 'yung sasabihin ko pero parang meron akong nakikita that time na parang light, parang 'Hey, David, wake up.' Parang ganun e,” he recalled.

He then expressed how thankful he was at the time for being alive, and how he believes that he still has a purpose in life.

“I'd like to think na I wanna serve as an inspiration to the youth, to the fans and to friends, to my family,” he added.
