Maria Clara at Ibarra actor David Licauco continues to delight fans that they started calling him “Pambansang Ginoo."

According to one of his fan, the actor deserves to be called as such because of his character in the series named Fidel and because of the actor's image.

“Bagay na bagay siyang tawaging pambansang ginoo. Una dahil sa pag ganap niya na Fidel na pwedeng ideal man ng lahat. Pangalawa, dahil sa imahe mismo ni @davidlicauco na may mukhang mabait,” a fan commented.

Another netizen agreed that David fits the personality of a "Pambansang Ginoo."

“The way he treats his co-actors, production staff, and fans speak volumes,” they added.

Another admitted that the new moniker fits David because it “sounds so gentle and wholesome.”

“Far from the image he had before na puro 'abs' lang daw at 'maghubad' na lang daw s'ya. He just proved that he's more than that,” the comment read

Meanwhile, another fan edited a picture showing Pambansang Bae Alden Richards and included a photo of David with his new moniker, calling them “ Heartthrobs.”

One fan, meanwhile, said that David's is enough to forget her K-drama “oppas” for the pambansang .

Previously, David's character, Fidel, was considered a person full of "red flags" or bad habits of a person before they go into a relationship. The actor, however, gave tips to those blinded by red flags.

“'Wag kang bibigay kaagad, kilalanin mo nang mabuting-mabuti kasi siyempre ayaw natin magsayang ng oras,” he said.

David's character was considered to have a lot of red flags during an intense scene with Klay (Barbie Forteza) where they argued about their different perspectives on the poor.
