After scaring little boys everywhere as Amasonang Itim, Iwa Moto sashays into her next role as someone who’s going to get the big boys to pay attention. How will Iwa’s character, Diana, dazzle the viewers? Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos provided by GMA Network. Iwa Moto hasn’t paused for a break since she began with Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap, where she top-billed as the main villain. Soon after, she became an action princess with Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan, all the while continuing her comedy stint with Nuts Entertainment and getting confined in hospitals several times. But Iwa is just about to face her biggest challenge. “Sobrang daring” is how Iwa describes her character Diane for Joaquin Bordado, GMA-7’s first primetime offering for the year. Diane is a bar dancer who can easily get the affection of her customers—and does. Mark Herras’ Jason quickly falls for her. “Pero [si Diane], magkakagusto sa kapatid ni Jason, which is [played by] Robin Padilla.” In a previous interview with Mark, he mentions that he keeps getting in trouble because of a certain bar girl. And Iwa confirms this with a laugh: “Ako ‘yung dahilan, pero nakikitingin lang ako.” After doing action in Zaido, Iwa will be showing a different kind of action for her role in Joaquin Bordado,. “Meron akong scene na nag-pole dancing ako. As in naka-bra’t panty lang!” she shrieks. But unlike her role as Amasonang Itim, there’s no training for Iwa in this show. “Sa kasamaang palad,” Iwa laughs. “Kaya mukha akong tanga.” She does clarify that someone was showing her how to properly go about pole-dancing, but as for the real deal? “Hindi naman siya ‘yung sobrang pole na ano...sobrang pa-sexy lang.” Iwa likes where her career is going, but whether she is enjoying going the sexy route is a different matter: “I don’t hate it, [but] I don’t like it [either]. Neutral lang.” “Kasi ayokong masyadong ilagay ‘yung sarili ko sa pa-sexy, [pero] ayoko rin nang pa-tweetums na,” she says. Iwa continues that she would like to just go with the flow. And as long as she’s getting work, she will work. “Anything na ibigay sa aking ng GMA, okay ako.” But she does wish that her next project would have a little more clothing. For her parting words, Iwa reveals that her fans will see a new her with Joaquin Bordado. “Kasi nga, sobra ang laki nang pinagbago ko! From Love to Love dati, pa-tweetums lang.
