Dingdong Dantes

Dingdong Dantes's #NowPH climate change dialogue will include environmental champions such as Atom Araullo, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and many more.

It has been five years since Kapuso Primetime King and YesPinoy Foundation chairman and founder Dingdong Dantes launched #NowPH, a youth-led climate action campaign.

As the Philippines has been battered by typhoons Rolly and Ulysses and is also currently bracing for typhoon Vicky, it is an opportune time to remind ourselves of what we can do to alleviate the climate crisis.

"As I post this, our fellow Filipinos in Mindanao are suffering from massive flooding due to Typhoon Vicky.

"Sa gitna ng pandemya, patuloy na sinasalanta ang bansa ng sunod sunod na malalakas na bagyo.

"It has been five years since we launched #NowPH, a youth-led climate action campaign. And its battlecry remains true, if not more significant, to this day," Dingdong wrote on his Instagram account.

Therefore, he is inviting everyone to join #NowPh's dialogue on climate change.

"Kaya sa darating na Linggo, December 20, samahan ninyo kami at ang ating environmental champions na pagusapan kung paano tayo makakatulong sa pagsugpo ng climate crisis," he continued.

The dialogue is dubbed "Now What? Climate Action #NowPH" and will include FYT Media co-founder and award-winning Kapuso journalist Atom Araullo, actress and sustainable development goals advocate Jasmine Curtis-Smith, United Nations Development Programme Country Representative Selva Ramachandran, and many other environmental champions.

#NowPH's climate change dialogue will stream on Sunday, December 20, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the Facebook pages of YesPinoy, FYT Media, and MediSure.

During the Climate Vulnerable Forum held in Paris back in 2015, Dingdong explained the core of the #NowPH movement.

"NOW--an acronym for 'Not on Our Watch,' is a movement that says the young Filipino is in charge of the task to be vigilant for the care of our planet," he says in a speech.

"The movement used online and offline platforms to engage young people across the Philippines. Different initiatives were implemented such as group discussion, training, media promotions, workshops, and roadshows to encourage youth participation. Social media interactions were also put in place to gather and collate expressions of support and commitment from the different sectors," he further explained.
