Nearly 300 Filipinos from Dubai arrive in PH amid US-Iran conflict

Nearly 300 Filipinos affected by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East due to the United States-Iran conflict arrived in the Philippines Thursday morning.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said a total of 299 Filipinos were on board the flight that landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at 6:45 a.m., according to a report of GMA Integrated News’ James Agustin on Unang Balita.

They were the first batch of Filipinos from Dubai.

According to the news release from DMW, 23 of those who arrived are overseas Filipino workers and two were children of OFWs. Some are returning to the Philippines for their safety and security as advised by their employers, some are OFWs who finished their contract, and some are returning home for good and personal reasons.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) welcomed the returning Filipinos.

Those who arrived were escorted to a holding area at NAIA Terminal 3.

More than 1,000 OFWs have expressed their intention to return to the Philippines amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Wednesday.
