Dingdong Dantes is feeling excited ahead of the world TV premiere of The Master Cutter, which marks his return to primetime.
The award-winning actor and host shared on 24 Oras that the opening sequence of the upcoming GMA Prime series impressed him with its energy and scale.
“Na-surprise pa rin kami, meaning, 'yung feeling na nakuha namin nung napanood namin for the first time ganu'n pa rin. Parang fresh na fresh kasi high energy talaga, wow!” Dingdong told Nelson Canlas during the special media conference hosted by Netflix for The Master Cutter last Thursday, May 7.
He also expressed gratitude to the producers for their commitment to mounting a project of such magnitude despite the challenges faced by the entertainment industry today.
“Laking pasasalamat ko rin sa producers talaga sa GMA, kasi alam naman natin kung gaano kahirap gumawa ng mga ganitong programa ngayon. Actually, buong industriya natin alam natin may mga challenges. And yet, all out sila sa commitment nila na magpakita ng ganitong klaseng show sa ganitong magnitude. Kung makita mo 'yung opening.”
Looking at the bigger picture, director Dominic Zapata shared that the team wanted the series to meet international standards, especially since it will also stream across Southeast Asia.
“Siyempre, iniisip din namin 'di ba ipapalabas tayo sa Southeast Asia, pakilala naman 'yung mga Pilipino 'di ba. We want to be able to do something that Pinoys can also be proud of.”

At the media conference, Paolo Contis, Max Collins, and Jo Berry also shared some of their favorite moments while filming The Master Cutter.
According to Paolo, who plays the antagonist Red, one of the most memorable scenes he shot involved fighting Dingdong while the actor was dressed as a nun.
Smiling, Paolo recounted, “Two weeks ago nakipagsuntukan ako sa Madre, kasi naka-madre costume si Dong.”
“It's very entertaining pero sobrang nakakapagod. Pero sabi nga namin, 'pag pinapanood namin, sulit e.'”
Meanwhile, Max Collins shared that viewers can expect several daring scenes from her character Elaine.
“I am more of the sexy scenes, not the action scenes, sa kanila na 'yun action scenes. As the veteran, if that's what I can bring into the show as one of the elders. Kasi siyempre andun naman si Shuvee, nandun si Charlie. We have the pretty girls, si Jo [Berry].”
For Jo Berry, the series offers more than just explosive action and gunfights. She said viewers will also discover emotional and socially relevant storylines.
“Sobrang saya ko, kasi alam ko ngayon pa lang magagawa sa GMA. Ngayon pa lang, ipapakita na may ganun struggle talaga na nangyayari sa totoong buhay ng little people. Sa sobrang saya ko na naging part ako ng storytelling ng ganun klaseng nangyayari talaga sa lipunan natin.”
The Master Cutter premieres worldwide on May 11 on GMA Prime after 24 Oras.
