For someone who has experienced so much of what the world has to offer, Donita Rose sets a very low requirement for what makes her happy. At the age of 39, she is pleased with the simplest of things because she has already identified what matters most to her.
Showbiz
Donita has been part of show business for as long as she could remember. She has tried her hand in acting, both drama and comedy, and in hosting and has proven that she excels in whatever she puts her heart in.
At a young age, her movie and show projects came left and right, and it was an unforgettable chapter in her life. “I was earning a lot, getting all this attention and trying my best to perfect my craft,” she said.
Culinary
This actress is proof that self-reinvention matters. Even with her excellent track record in show business, she did not stop adding to her skill set. She satisfied her thirst for more knowledge when she studied Culinary Arts.
“Nag-decide ako na mag-aral ng culinary kasi I’m just so in love with food. 'Yung habang nag-e-exercise ka, iniisip mo na 'yung kakainin mo (after),” she joyfully shared.
There are still goals she wants to attain and one of them is globalizing Filipino food. “I would love to be a world-famous chef, putting Filipino cuisine on the world map and I want it gourmet Filipino,” she added.
Family
Because she spent decades working really hard and moving from one place to another, there came a point that settling down was in order. The love of her life is personified in Eric Villarama, her brother’s best friend and someone who had a crush on her since they were kids. She even remembers turning him down by tearing a letter he wrote to her.
“He wrote me a letter and I just remembered that as a kid. ‘Di ko binasa eh. ‘Di ko siya gusto kasi payatot na mas bata pa sa ‘kin ng 2 years. I tore it. I think I said ‘drop dead,’ gumanun ako sa kanya,” she recalled.
But now, her life has changed because of Eric and their 10-year-old son Joshua. “I couldn’t ask for a better life and it’s because of them. I have a husband who is my biggest fan. There is no one else for me. There will never be another man for me. There is no one who could ever make my heart sing and make me laugh and it’s the same thing with my son,” she said.
The happiness in Donita’s life is apparent in the way she brings herself and the enthusiasm she has for life. She shares this positivity with every Filipino as she co-hosts
Basta Every Day Happy.
“[The show is about] nuggets of happiness that we’d like to share with our viewers and we hope that they will share [it] back to others. [We want] to spread the happiness all over the Philippines,” she noted.
The show has been running for only a week so far but the good vibes has already overflown. The task is not at all heavy for her because her mind set allows happiness to come naturally.
“[I’m] sharing the happiness out of the abundance of my heart. We just let it flow. We have fun and we hope everybody else will join us in this exciting journey,” she declared.
