The Filipino folklore-inspired film features H.E.R, Liza Soberano, and Lea Salonga in the lead voice cast.
DreamWorks Animation has unveiled the first look at its upcoming feature film Forgotten Island, offering a glimpse into a story rooted in friendship and Filipino folklore.
Taking place in the 1990s, H.E.R. and Liza Soberano bring to life Jo and Raissa, two best friends on the brink of going their separate ways after high school. During one last night together filled with junk food and karaoke, an unexpected discovery changes everything when they come across a mysterious portal.
From there, the story shifts into a fantastical realm drawn from the tales they grew up hearing, where shapeshifters, demons, witches, and other creatures exist. As Jo and Raissa navigate this unfamiliar world, they meet both allies and adversaries, and their bond is pushed in ways they never anticipated while they search for a path back home. The film is written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, whose concept was shaped by their own friendship. The two first met while working on Kung Fu Panda 2.
On Instagram, Liza shared photos from the trailer launch event at DreamWorks Studios alongside H.E.R.

"I'm so so so honored and proud to be a part of such an amazing film that showcases Filipino culture and talent!! Did everyone like the trailer?" Liza said in her caption.
The film's official Instagram account for Forgotten Island also shared a post confirming H.E.R., Liza Soberano, and Lea Salonga as part of the lead voice cast.
"AYAN NAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!," Lea commented.
Completing the voice cast are Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, Jenny Slate, Jo Koy, Dolly de Leon, Ronny Chieng, and Amielynn Abellera.
Forgotten Island arrives in theaters in the United States on September 25.
