Eman Bacosa Pacquiao has filed a complaint with the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) against his opponent, Rodelyn Perez, and referee Jerold Tomeldan following their recent title fight.
According to Aubrey Carampel's report on 24 Oras on Monday, June 29, the complaint stemmed from alleged repeated and intentional "rabbit punches," or blows to the back of the head, which are prohibited in boxing.
Eman faced Perez for the PBF Youth lightweight title on June 21, with Perez winning the match via majority decision.
According to Eman's mother and manager, Joanna Rose Bacosa Dino, the punches thrown during the fight were intentional.
“Normal sa nagkakainitan na fighters yung magkasakitan o sabihin na po natin na ma-rabbit punch, pero yung hindi po intentional. Yung ginawa kay Eman intentional kasi paulit-ulit po,” she said.
Joanna emphasized that their complaint is focused on Eman's condition rather than the outcome of the match.
“Hindi na po ito usapin ng talo kami o panalo kami, ang pinaka-concern ko po dito ay yung health ni Eman,” she added.
According to Eman's camp, despite the alleged repeated rabbit punches, Rodelyn was not given any warning or penalty by the referee.
Joanna also shared that Eman complained during the fight after experiencing body stiffness that started from his feet and gradually spread upward.
The boxer has since undergone a CT scan, and his camp is still awaiting the results.
GMA News has reached out to Rodelyn and Jerold for a comment, but they have yet to respond.
Meanwhile, GAB confirmed that it has received the complaint, which cited "alleged misconduct and officiating lapses."
In a statement, the board said it will require those named in the complaint to submit their respective comments as part of the standard regulatory process.
“Following standard regulatory procedure, the GAB will require the individuals identified in the Complaint-Affidavit to submit their respective comments. This ensures that all relevant parties are afforded due process and given a fair opportunity to be heard. Upon receipt and evaluation of all relevant submissions, the Board will resolve the matter objectively and in accordance with existing rules,” GAB said.
The board added that it would refrain from commenting on the merits of the case while the proceedings are ongoing.
“To preserve the integrity of the proceeding, the GAB shall refrain from commenting on the merits of the case pending its final resolution.”
