“Absence makes the heart grow fonder."

This saying seems to be true for celebrity couple Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, who are currently in a long-distance relationship.

Despite their situation, the actor-dancer made sure to remember her girlfriend's 25th birthday. On his Instagram, Enrique posted a series of Liza's photos and a couple of their candid moments together, and captioned it with a sweet message for the birthday girl.

"We might be worlds apart, but you've never been closer to my heart. To the most beautiful soul in the world. To my best friend and baby. I love you so much, Happy Birthday!!” he said.

The actress responded to her boyfriend's message by sharing his post Instagram Story with this line: "Thank you for being there for me when it's hard."

In a separate Instagram post, the actress thanked her family, friends, and fans who greeted her on her birthday.

“I'm eternally grateful for each and every one of you. I wish I could be with all of you today to celebrate how far we've all come just like we used to but for now I hope I can continue making you all proud!” she said.

She also promised to work harder in her chosen career and that she will become better at her craft.

Liza is currently in the U.S. and pursuing a career in Hollywood after the COVID-19 pandemic hit and halted many projects and operations due to the lockdown. The actress said that she wanted to “change her career direction” by going to Hollywood.

Enrique, on the other hand, stayed in the Philippines and will continue his acting career.

Liza and Enrique started out as a love team and in February 2019, they admitted that they have been a couple since October 2014.
