The controversy surrounding the last-minute change of the host for Seo In-guk's first Manila fan meeting is still a hot topic on social media.

It was announced earlier that Kristel Fulgar, a fan of In-guk, will be the host of the event. But due to “unforeseen circumstances” she was replaced by DJ Karen Bordador.

Organizer Epic Events released a statement on Facebook last August 15 about the issue, commending Kristel for her professionalism.

“We would like to thank Kristel Fulgar for her professionalism and being a class act all throughout! She was one of the earliest to arrive and was already at the rehearsals at 7AM and gave positive energy to everyone!”

The organizer also reiterated that they exhausted all efforts to make sure that she will be part of the In-guk's event, too.

“We exhausted all efforts to have her part of the program; even to just have one song number/duet with seo in guk for the fans but as mentioned in the vlog, the decision to have her no longer host was not from our end.

“We again would like to thank Kristel and her family for being the nicest people and showing nothing but love and respect even on what transpired.”

In a vlog, the actress-vlogger explained her side of the story and admitted that her "lack of energy" during the rehearsal was a factor why she lost the hosting gig.

Kristel stated, "It's the first time I've experienced a scenario like this in my 20 years in the entertainment industry. I was here at 7 am rehearsing and then, eventually, the [Korean technical] director told me that I would no longer be hosting."

"Like, huh? Just a moment, like what happened? It's like I've been in charge for a long time, I've been in charge of myself here for a long time."

She continued, "Since it's a rehearsal, I'm not used to giving 100% of my energy, so, if they lack energy in the rehearsal.

“Sabi ko po, 'I will do my best'

"I was expecting to be asked to go up on stage again so that I could show 100% what I was saying, but it was not."

Kristel's vlog is currently one of the top trending videos on YouTube Philippines, reaching the fourth spot in the video-sharing site.

Meanwhile, Seo In-guk's Manila fan meet broke a record last Saturday night. According to Philippine Concerts, his event is the longest solo fan meet, which lasted for more than three hours.
