Former athlete-turned-actor Eric Tai, popularly known as Eruption, described his experience working with multi-awarded actor Dingdong Dantes in 'The Master Cutter' as both memorable and inspiring.
Eric Tai, popularly known as Eruption, had a memorable time filiming for the GMA Prime series 'The Master Cutter,' headlined by Mr. Dingdong Dantes.
The versatile actor and former rugby player showcased his agility and strength as Vladimir, a Russian who faced off against Dingdong's character Atoy, who was disguises as Chipper Arenas in the episode.
Looking back on his special appearance, Eric shared that one of the highlights of the experience was watching Dingdong work on set and seeing firsthand how he prepared for his role.
He told GMANetwork.com, “It is a privilege to work with Dingdong [Dantes], besides Family Feud, kasi lagi ako sa Family Feud. Ngayon naman, I got to see him act, see how he harnessed himself mentally to get into his character.
“Kasi, siyempre iba-iba 'yung character niya. So, seeing him work is amazing as well. He is a veteran actor and me coming in, I'm like a sponge in everything he does. I love it!”
Eric also praised the cast and production team for making the taping experience enjoyable and stress-free.
“I really enjoyed The Master Cutter and that was the first one I taped this year, teleserye-wise. I had a great time there. Even the production staff mabait din, the cast.”
He added, “And then 'yung character ko dun is Vladimir, so, Russian pero a very-well versed Russian. But I tried to put on the accent, 'yung something that is not English.”

As more action projects come his way, Eric remains committed to staying in peak condition. Drawing from the discipline he developed as a former member of the Philippine National Rugby Team, he continues to maintain a rigorous fitness routine to ensure he is always ready for fight scenes, stunts, and other physically demanding roles.
“Kung kilala n'yo ako as Eruption, I came from the Philippine Volcanoes, so national team player ako ng Rugby. So physical talaga and one of my goals kahit I'm retired for 10 years, but I have been playing Rugby for almost 30 years.
“I still try to keep [and maintain] the mindset of being an athlete- mobile, agile, strength. You know all those, combine them all. Siyempre, may edad na ako, so mobility.”
“Maganda 'yung mga eksena namin, may barilan, pero may physical fights. So, it was really good. It was a great start sa year ko.”
