We officially have a sneak peek of Michelle Dee's national costume in the upcoming Miss World 2019 pageant and it's a stunner.
The 23-year-old beauty queen will be wearing a custom Francis Libiran gown that the designer calls “The Philippine Sun Princess.”
In the photos seen below, the design features not only the butterfly sleeves from the Philippine Terno but also the sun in the collar inspired by the sun of the Philippine National Flag. The overall design was then complemented by the designer's signature Art Deco embroidery.
According to the designer and his team, the pattern was inspired by the historic Visayan tattoo called “Batek” and were found in the earliest illustrations of Visayan warriors in the 16th-century Boxer Codex that symbolized the tribes' bravery and triumph.
The haute couture gown is made of fine soft tulle and was intricately embroidered with hand-made beadwork.

Michelle is set to compete for the crown this Saturday, December 14 at ExCel London. The pageant will be aired via satellite on the same day, 10: 20 pm, on GMA-7.
