After his successful solo comeback with “Bambi,” EXO member Baekhyun has finally announced his enlistment date which will commence next month.
Prior to the release of Bambi, Baekhyun has already hinted that the end of March had been the final date at which he could defer his enlistment.
He said, “I wanted to tell you about it. I thought a lot about whether I should tell you at the start of March or just tell you later. The end of March is the final date at which I could push back my military enlistment. That's why nothing has been scheduled for April.”
Days after the release of Bambi, SM Entertainment confirmed that Baekhyun will be enlisting on May 6, the same day as his birthdate.
The announcement said, “Baekhyun will be enlisting on May 6. The time and location of his enlistment will be private and there will be no special events.”
Meanwhile, as reported by Soompi.com, the singer wrote in LYSN, “It's cloudy today, so I wanted to share with you some good news. Although, there's something I need to tell you first.
“I've received my notice of enlistment for May 6! This isn't a permanent separation, so instead of endlessly waiting for me and missing me, and being sad during the brief time that we're apart, I'm going to try various methods to feel like we're spending time together, even if it's in a different form.”
He continued, “I'm going to work harder and prepare lots of things! I know how hard it is for you to wait, so instead of asking you to wait, I want to tell you that I love you! I love you!”
Baekhyun will be the sixth member to enlist, joining Chanyeol, as well as Chen and Suho. EXO members D.O. and Xiumin have both completed their service.
According to reports, Baekhyun will enlist as a public service worker after undergoing three weeks of basic training.
