EXO member Chanyeol may be entering the military soon, but it doesn't mean he doesn't come bearing gifts for his adoring fans called EXO-Ls.
On Thursday, March 18, Chanyeol greeted the press to promote his latest movie, The Box, where he will play aspiring singer Ji-hoon.
In the movie, Ji-hoon will meet a washed-up music producer named Min-soo (played by Jo Dal-hwan) and will hit the road together to embark on a journey of a lifetime as they reach for their dreams of making it big in the music industry.
Speaking to the press, director Yang Jung-woong said the main reason he cast the K-pop idol was that he is a big fan of the singer.
“Does it still require an explanation?” he said as reported by Naver.
“I'm an EXO fan. I cast him because I saw that he is free-spirited, creative, and artistic. I also like his rap and baritone voice.”
Chanyeol was then given a guitar and started belting out a few words from Coldplay's 2014 hit, “A Sky Full of Stars.”

Speaking of Chanyeol, the press also asked how he feels entering the military come March 29th, to which he answered, “I'll be back safely.”
He said, “I'm so honored and fortunate to do such good works and show you a movie before joining the army.
“I will enter with a comfortable heart. I'm prepared for it. I'll stay healthy, not get hurt, and come back safely.”
In early March, Chanyeol was confirmed to be the fifth member of EXO to enlist in the military following recently discharged members Xiumin and D.O., and Suho and Chen who are currently serving.
Chanyeol will start his military service on March 29.
