Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan were in an absolute parental mode as they defend their daughter, Frankie, from TV and radio personality Ben Tulfo.
Frankie Pangilinan and Ben Tulfo have been the latest topic in Twitterverse after the two pitted their arguments on rape culture in the Philippines with the latter stating: “Sexy ladies careful with the way you dress up! You are inviting the beast”
He even addressed Frankie as “hija” which prompted the teenager to change her username in retaliation to Ben Tulfo.
- rape culture is real and a product of this precise line of thinking, where the behavior is normalized, particularly by men.

- the way anyone dresses should not be deemed as 'opportunity' to sexually assault them. ever.
- calling me hija will not belittle my point. https://t.co/bLbtEDVGBn
Ben's argument doesn't sit well for the Megastar who said in a separate tweet, “You mean, people shouldn't count those who've been raped and murdered in the dead of winter in some other country, stripped of all their “uninviting,” thick, layered winter clothing?”
She even compared the situation to pedophiles or persons who are sexually attracted to children.
“Parang pedophiles lang,” she wrote.
“Nananahimik ang mga batang anghel na inosenteng nakaplay-clothes na di 'naman [naka] long gown o nakabalot pero pinagnanasaan.”
Adding, “Kung masama ang intensyon, gagawa at gagawa ng paraan ang kademonyohan ng masama. Pero kung matinong tao kahit pa nakatwo-piece ka sa beach at dumaan ka sa harap niya, wala lang.”
Sharon ended the posts by saying how incredibly proud she is of her own “hija” by using the hashtag, “#hijakoyan.”

The same can be said for dad Senator Francis Pangilinan, who showed his support by recalling how his father must've felt during Martial Law.
“Go ahead then, @kakiep83. As my father, your Lolo Dony, sought to understand what I did then despite the risks, so it is with me and you.”

Frankie's reaction to rape culture was prompted after the Lucban Municipal Police Station warned girls not to wear short dresses as an anti-rape advisory.
The now-deleted Facebook page and post said: “Kayo namang mga gherlsz, 'wag kayo magsusuot ng pagkaikli-ikling damit at 'pag naman nabastos ay magsusumbong din sa amin. Isipin niyo rin.”
Based on a report by GMA News Online, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is currently investigating the matter, and the person behind the message has been identified and is being asked for an explanation.
Aside from her parents, other celebrities and personalities like Lauren Young, Glaiza de Castro, and Alessandra de Rossi have made their arguments regarding the issue on their respective social media accounts.
