LOOK: Paolo Ballesteros designs Filipiniana gown for Mutya ng Pilipinas candidate

Eat Bulaga Dabarkad Paolo Ballesteros has already proven that he is more than a comedy actor and TV host.

He already wowed us with his creativity through his amazing makeup transformations and paintings.

Now, we can see it in another medium, through fashion design.

The multi-slashie celebrity proudly showed his recent creation, a Filipiniana gown worn by his friend and Mutya ng Pilipinas candidate Agatha Romero, on his social media post last night, September 11.

In an exchange of messages in Facebook Messenger earlier, September 12, Paolo related to GMANetwork.com how his involvement in the pageant started.

“I'm a beauty pageant enthusiast talaga,” he said.

“When friends ask for my help sa styling and pagbihis sa candidate, they're very welcome kase dun ko nailalabas 'yung mga ideas ko na feeling ko pasok sa pageants.

“Agatha Romero, candidate 23, is a friend that I also help sa mga styling and everything, so I told her na ako na magdamit sa kanya for the terno ng Mutya ng Pilipinas.”

Then, he described the Filipiniana gown, which bears the primary colors of the Philippine flag.

Paolo said, “The gown is a traditional terno embracing modernization and unity, na whatever crisis our government may face, we will stand tall as one nation, under one flag.

“Kasi, dapat daw something to do with the place she represents, which is Manila.”

According to the Eat Bulaga host, this is not the first gown design that he created.

“Meron na before sa mga pageants din,” he said.

He admitted, however, that most of the time he seeks help from fellow designer friends to create a gown.

“Collaboration with designer friends,” Paolo said.

“'Yung designing part is easy for me kasi usually I base my design sa magsusuot na girl, kung ano sa tingin ko bagay sa kanya.

“May vision na ako ng end result.

“'Yung pag-construct ang mahirap kasi 'di naman ako talaga nananahi.

“Buti na lang I have designer friends who helped me execute 'yung navi-visualize ko na gowns.”

Does Paolo see fashion design as something he can do more often?

He replied, “For now oks na muna ako sa pagbihis sa mga pageants. Paisaisa lang hehe.

“Marami pa akong dapat matutunan at pag-aralan if ever I would venture in the business.”

When asked who else does he dreamed of creating a gown for, Paolo answered, “Siyempre, sarili ko hahaha!

“Actually, may mga gowns na pala ako na na-design for me, hahaha, na nagagamit ko kapag kailangan.”
