Indie film and theater actress Jorrybell Agoto is currently going through a health crisis.

On social media, Jorrybell's loved ones and friends are seeking financial assistance for her medical expenses as she battles lymphoma, a type of cancer.

Details about the actress' current condition and the fundraising campaign were shared by netizen Kamil Lipnica in a social media post titled “Let's help Jorrybell fight cancer.”

According to the post, “Our beloved Jorrybell is currently admitted to the Critical Care Unit of St. Luke's Hospital, bravely fighting through a difficult chapter in her battle against cancer. At present, her lungs are filling with fluid in the pleural area, making it difficult for her to breathe.”

Jorrybell is well-known in the award-winning film Filipiñana,' where she played the character of Isabel.

It tells the story of Isabel (Jorrybell Agoto), a golf-tee girl at a Philippine country club. She is strangely drawn to Dr. Palanca, the president of the group. Isabel later discovers the violence in the club and their connection from the past.

The film premiered in 2020 at the Berlinale International Film Festival as part of the shorts competition. It won the Silver Bear Short Film Jury Prize at the said festival. It was also chosen as the Philippines' entry to the 2027 Oscars.

Meanwhile, Jorrybell also starred in Cross My Heart and Hope to Die, screened at Venice, Clermont-Ferrand, Berlin Interfilm, and the Singapore International Film Festival. In 2024, she won Best Actress at the Tokyo International Film Festival for the film.
