Frankie Pangilinan wrote a lengthy apology for her recent tweets regarding rape and victim-blaming. The 20-year-old daughter of Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan trended online for speaking up on social media about how rape is always the perpetrator's fault.
This was following the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera, who was allegedly raped before she passed away from an aortic aneurysm. However, the rape rumors were met with criticism by the public as more evidence unfolded and called for more investigation.
Frankie was among the celebrities who sought justice for Christine, and defended rape victims from being blamed for the crime.
She tweeted on January 4, "It is never the clothes, never the drinks -- never the victim, period. it is always, ALWAYS, the rapist's fault. How many more times do we have to hammer this home for it to stick in your thick skulls, please??!??!"

the hashtag rly shouldn't be 'protect drunk girls' man, it should be respect tf out of any human being because drunk girls shouldn't be needing any more protection than drunk guys. that's exactly what's wrong here, though -- a few drinks and we're suddenly no longer people ig

After some reflection, Frankie apologized for tweeting about rape after more evidence from Christine's case was released and suggested it is not clear yet whether she was raped or not prior to her death.
On January 7, Frankie wrote on her Twitter, "Before I sleep i'd just like to reiterate how absolutely sorry i am for helping to spread misinformation :(( the authorities' statements were misleading and confusing (and still are) so i hope you can understand. regardless, rape will never be okay, though.
"It's really eating me up guys. I read through articles before tweeting but I should have waited knowing how the authorities function nowadays. It's sick and sad. I'm really really sorry."
"I got caught up in the outrage, I promise I'll do better. i've deleted all of the misleading tweets but i stand by everything i said re: respecting girls, and i hope christine still gets the justice she deserves. it's still a heartbreaking and gut-wrenching way to start the year."
"I'm just really sorry," Frankie concluded.
Netizens lauded Frankie, and expressed how they understood where Frankie was coming from with her tweets.
It's not just you. Everyone was caught up with their emotions. We put our trust on the statements of authorities and forgot they have always been unreliable. People nowadays say things that trigger our emotions and lead us to think wrong thoughts. That's what they want us to do.

It takes courage and humility to admit that. Respect.

It's been like that since time immemorial.
Just proves kakie is no better and is just as likely to jump on the bandwagon as everybody else😒
Frankie has been vocal on social media in the past few years about her opinions regarding women's rights and abuse.
