Garrett Bolden

"I learned to use my differences to stand out," saad ni Garrett Bolden.

"My differences, always nagiging isa sa nakikita ng tao when they judge me. When it comes to love naman, siyempre, 'yung, 'Hindi ka bagay d'yan kasi ano 'yan, black 'yan.' May judgment na agad before getting to know the person, 'di ba?" kuwento ni Garrett nang makausap ng GMANetwork.com sa rehearsal ng pinagbibidahan niyang musikal na Once On This Island.

"Hindi naman siyang sobrang mabigat na part sa akin when it comes to the relationship, more on naging mabigat 'yung pagiging different or 'yung parang if you're not maputi, you're lesser,” aniya.

"That has been a cliche na hindi ko maintindihan noon [but] I learned to use my differences, hindi ko sasabihing flaw kung hindi differences, to stand out because choice 'yon.

"When you choose to be in a group, or when you choose to go somewhere, you give the love, and eventually nare-reciprocate 'yon despite the differences," dagdag pa niya.

Saad niya, "I just wanna connect this in a different way. There's race matter, the class matter. I grew up in an environment where my color, how I look, does not fit in. It's a struggle."

"But I still choose to love, so that's the thing. It's a choice. Like this group, we all came from different places, some of us are really veterans, but every time we come in here, we work together, we love each other, and now, we are going to tell the story."

Mapapanood ang Once On This Island ng 9Works Theatricals sa RCBC Plaza sa Makati City simula September 6, 2024 hanggang September 29.

Available na ang tickets nito sa www.Ticket2Me.net.
