Kapuso singers Thea Astley and Garrett Bolden are part of 9Works Theatrical's 'Once on This Island: A Musical.'
After being part of Rent The Musical, Kapuso singers Thea Astley and Garrett Bolden are set to star in a new musical, 9Works Theatrical's Once on This Island.
Thea portrays the role of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who falls in love with a rich boy while Garrett plays Agwe, the God of Water.
Once on This Island is based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love: or The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, which is a retelling of Hans Christian Anderson's classic fairy tale The Little Mermaid.
The coming-of-age, one-act stage musical won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 1995. In 2018, it won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.
The 9Works Theatrical's Once on This Island will begin on September 6, 2024, and will run until September 29 at the RCBC Plaza in Makati City.
