Black Rider actress Gladys Reyes revealed that she recently had alopecia and according to the actress, one of the main causes of her condition was when her dad, Sonyer Reyes, passed away in 2021.

In her interview on the Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast, Gladys detailed how hard it was for her and their family to accept their dad's passing. She also mentioned how they would question themselves on what went wrong with how they took care of her dad.

“Siguro, hindi mo rin talaga, hindi ganun kabilis na ma-accept mo, di ba? Na minsan hahanap ka rin na what went wrong? Ano ba 'yung medyo mayroon ba kong hindi nagawa ganiyan?” she said.

She then addressed the listeners, telling them to make sure to spoil their parents whenever they can since “life is unpredictable sa totoo lang.”

“It's not just short but unpredictable. You don't know what's going to happen,” dagdag ng aktres.

She also admitted that she was so composed and organized when the hospital called them, letting their family know that her dad had gone into a coma. She also detailed how she was taping a sitcom, Pepito Manaloto, during his dad's wake.

Gladys then revealed how she thought that she was alright and that she had accepted her dad's passing however, one time while taking a bath after burying her dad, was when everything sank in, and realized that she needed to grieve.

“Kailangan mag-grieve ka talaga. Hindi mo puwedeng lampasan 'yung stage na yun. Kasi ako, akala ko, okay din ako. Tapos kasi sa isip ko, pag busy ka pala, hindi masyado masakit sa pakiramdam,” she detailed.

She then detailed how when she was showering during a staycation, she would cry and while brushing her hair, she found a large bald spot on her head, and confirmed that she has alopecia.

It was also during her salon session with her mom and sister when a hairstylist saw the bald spot, that the condition could sometimes be caused by stress.

“Doon pala, doon nag-manifest 'yun lahat ng stress ko pala, 'yung palang ano ko, 'yung hindi ko inilalabas na iyak, 'yung hindi ko inilalabas, di ba, 'yung stress ko, nag-manifest sa aking buhok, sa aking ulo,” she said.

She continued, “Wala akong kaalam-alam, may gano'n na pala nangyayari sa katawan ko, di ba? Kasi hindi ko, kasi tina-try ko lampasan 'yung sakit, ano. Tinatry kong hindi iiyak, hindi i-grieve.”

Gladys then left a message to everyone, “Kaya 'yun, sa mga nanonood, okay po 'yan, iiyak n'yo po, masakit 'yan, oo. Pero hindi n'yo pwedeng lampasan 'yan. Kailangan talaga ipagluksa n'yo 'yan na, 'yung pakiramdam na 'yan, ilabas n'yo.”
